People of the Wind
"People of the Wind" is an attempt of James Wylie and Fausto Sierakowski to interpret the eastern traditions they have been studying in the past few years, on their first instrument : the saxophone. At the same time, it is a search to reconcile their interest in free improvised music with these new (old) languages and to find/create a common ground between those seemingly foreign vocabularies. |
The program is thus made of excerpts from the classical and folk traditions of Iran, Greece, Armenia and Turkey as well as original compositions exploring similarities between those two worlds such as timbre and use of microtonality. Joining them on percussions is Alexandros Rizopoulos, one of the foremost traditional percussionists of today Greece.
