Dimitris Tigkas was born in Patras , Greece in 1982. He studied modern double bass with Evgeny Bratushka at the Municipal Music School of Volos and then with Vasilis Papavasiliou at the Hellenic Music School in Athens, where he graduated.From September 2006 he moved to Amsterdam where he studied the violone (historical double bass) with Maggie Urquhart . He gained a bachelor's and a master's in the Conservatorium van Amsterdam.He also gained a bachelor's in musicology from the University of Athens.He has played as a freelance musician in many orchestras, chamber music groups and music for theatre. Achilleas-Apostolos Tigkas was born in Greece in 1984. From a very young age he started his music education in classical western music and byzantine church music. He graduated the State Conservatory of Thessaloniki with diploma in byzantine music and the Macedonian Conservatory of Thessaloniki in western music Harmony . He is a graduate of bachelor degree by the University of Macedonia, department of Music Science and Art, where he specialized in the performance of ney and other Greek folk wind instruments. He followed the post-graduate program of Istanbul Technical University, department M.I.A.M. (Center for Advanced Music Studies) specializing in the performance of Ottoman Classical |
Music repertoire in Ney under the supervision of Dr. Suleyman Erguner. From May 2014 he works on his PhD research in Athens Musicology department, sector of Byzantine musicology. He teaches “ney” and “makam” theory at “Nakas Conservatory of Athens” and at τηε “School of Byzantine and Folk music of Athens’ Archdiocese. He is head of the “Workshop of Folk music” at Volos Municipal Conservatory.
He has been a founding member in many music groups (“Melpis”, “Perapolis”, “EO”, “Mounajat”, “EBED trio”) focusing on the study, performance and spread of the music culture of Greece and Minor Asia as well as the bridging among music cultures of Mediterranean. For this reason he has performed with a variety of well known musicians and composers of World Music such as Lamia Bedioui (Tynisia), Sumru Ağıryürüyen (Turkey), Ziad Rajab (Syria), Efren Lopez Sanz (Spain), Zoe Tiganouria (Greece).

Nickolas Spanos has been acclaimed for his appearance in opera, oratorio and recital. Both Greek and international Press has commented on his vocal and stage presence very favorably. He has collaborated often with the National Opera of Greece, Opera Lorraine, Athens and Thessaloniki Megaron Concert Hall, Athens State Orchestra, Thessaloniki State Orchestra, National Theatre of Greece, Orchestra of Colours, Bach Sinfonia (U.S.A.), Denmark Radio Symphony Orchestra, Camerata Stuttgart, Venice Baroque Orchestra, Les Talens Lyriques, Armonia Atenea, Ensemble Alraune, in Greece as well as worldwide. For many years he has been a regular collaborator of the “Ex Silentio”, “Latinitas nostra” and “Pandolfis Consort Wien” Early Music Ensembles. He was been awarded the “Best Young Artist of the Year” award by the Association of Theater and Music Critics of Greece, for his interpretation of the role of Arsamene in Händel’s “Serse” in the National Opera of Greece, First Prize at the “TECHNI” National Competition for Lyric Singers, held in Thessaloniki, as well as a few more awards for his participation in recordings, which include the CD recording of Händel’s “Oreste” (2004) and “Tamerlano” (2006) by the German label MDG as well as a CD based on Metastasio's “Olimpiade” libretto, with the Venice Baroque Orchestra (V.B.O., 2011) for NAÏVE Records. In 2014 he was the first to revive the role of Ruggiero in Ristori's "Le Fate" with Ensemble Alraune, a production that was made into DVD. He lives in Vienna, Austria. |

Kyriakos Gouventas was born in Thessaloniki in 1966. Having studied violin at the State Conservatory he then worked with the State Orchestra of Thessaloniki and in various chamber music ensembles. At the same time he was active in the area of Greek music (dimotiko, rebetiko, smyrnaiko, etc) and more recently decided to turn his attentions entirely to traditional music. |
